About Brian & SusanWelcome to the website of Brian and Susan Stearns. We married August 25, 2001 at Drury Christian Church in Carbondale, Illinois. We then honeymooned at Susan's favorite spot in the world...Lake Yonah located north ease of Tocooa, Georgia. We live in Carbondale, Illinois. Together we share an interest in Search and Rescue. We are both unpaid staff members of the Williamson County Emergency Management Agency in Illinois where we are a part of their search and rescue team. Brian has earned his NASAR SARTECH II certification and Susan has earned a NASAR SARTECH III certification. Brian is training our Canaan Dog, Caleb for search and rescue. We hope that come September 2006, Brian and Caleb with both have the NASAR CANINE III certification. To our knowledge, Caleb is the only Canaan dog in the United States to be trained for search and rescue. We have posted some video and pictures of Caleb on this site. Brian and Susan hold individual interests as well. Brian is currently raising tarantulas - some for pets and some to sell. Brian also works with other animals such as a sailfin dragon and a green tree frog. In the past he has bred bearded dragons. Susan, on the other hand, is a flutist. She teaches private lessons and serves on the board of directors of the Southern Illinois Flute Society. She also enjoys developing websites for organizations that she volunteers for and friends. In addition to being a flutist, a web developer, and programmer, Susan is currently attending Southern Illinois University to earn an Illinois Teachers Certification and a Masters degree in Special Education. She has posted special education reference documents and links related to her classes. |
